History

Sept 1959 - Robert (Bob) Stepp, an accountant with Ashland Oil, saw a need for a kitchen and bath supply company in Huntington.  He started the business with a 1k loan from his father.  Bob worked both jobs for the first year before resigning his position at Ashland Oil to devote his full attention to his new business.

1974 - In 1974 an addition was made to the building that doubled the existing size of the Huntington Showroom and Warehouse.

1988 – Building was enlarged to accommodate a custom shop that allowed the business to customize counters and factory cabinetry.

1989 – Opened the Charleston showroom in Kanawha City. Showroom was equipped with working “live” kitchen for cooking demonstrations and has been loaned for various charity events.

1996 – Remodeled Huntington showroom to include a “live” kitchen.

 

2000 – Bob Stepp retired after 40 years and named Rob Stepp, president and Nancy Rigney, vice president of Creative Kitchens.

2001 – Business goal was focused on build design with full service installation.  The installation department was increased from two 2-person install crews to nine 2-person teams plus the addition of a fulltime project manager.

2005 – Remodeled the Huntington store front. 

2006 – Opened Lewisburg showroom. 

2008 – Creative Kitchens was featured in Woman’s Day Special Interest Publications, Kitchens & Baths.

2009 – Creative Kitchens celebrated 50 years in business.
